Privacy policy
Effective 20 October 2026
Baffleword is made by Randy Northrup ("we"). This policy covers the Baffleword game and this website, baffleword.com. The short version: the game keeps everything on your computer, and this website has no cookies, analytics or ads.
The game
- No account and no internet connection. The game doesn't sign you in, doesn't connect to the internet and doesn't send us anything.
- What it stores on your computer: your high scores, statistics, achievements and settings, in a small database. It also keeps diagnostic logs so problems can be fixed. On Windows these live in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Baffleword. On macOS and Linux they're in the matching per-user application data folder. - Logs contain technical details such as error messages and file paths. A file path can include your computer's user name. Logs never leave your computer unless you choose to send them to us when asking for help.
- Removing your data: delete the
Bafflewordfolder above, or uninstall the game. - No analytics, advertising or tracking code is built into the game.
If you play on Steam
When Baffleword is released on Steam, features such as Steam achievements, cloud saves and leaderboards are provided by Valve. They're covered by the Steam Privacy Policy. Leaderboards show your Steam display name and score to other players. Steam gives developers sales and usage reports. Those reports don't identify individual players to us.
This website
- No cookies, analytics, ads or third-party scripts or fonts.
- The site is hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver and protect it, Cloudflare processes standard technical information such as your IP address and browser details. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply and to fix the problem you reported. We don't add you to any mailing list or share your email.
Children
Baffleword is for everyone. Because the game collects no personal information, it doesn't collect any from children either.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its effective date. If the game ever starts collecting data, we'll say so here first.
