Support
Stuck, found a bug, or a word you think should count? We'd love to hear from you.
Contact
Email support@baffleword.com. Please include your operating system, the game's version (it's on the main menu and the About screen), and what happened.
Reporting a bug
The game writes logs that help us find problems. Attaching the newest log file to your email makes a big difference:
- Windows:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Baffleword\Logs(paste that into the File Explorer address bar) - macOS and Linux: the
Baffleword/Logsfolder in your per-user application data folder
If the game ever shows an error screen at start-up, it lists the log folder and keeps your data untouched.
Where is my progress saved?
Everything (high scores, statistics, achievements and settings) is saved on your computer in the Baffleword folder next to the logs. Nothing is stored online, so back up that folder if you want to keep your progress when you move to a new computer. The Steam version will also support Steam Cloud.
How do I start fresh?
Close the game and delete the Baffleword folder. The next time you start the game it creates a new, empty save.
A word wasn't accepted
Baffleword uses its own dictionary of over 200,000 words, built from open word lists. Proper nouns, abbreviations and hyphenated words don't count, and slurs and strong profanity were left out on purpose. If you think a real word is missing, tell us at the address above.
Accessibility
Settings has light and dark themes, a reduced-motion option that turns off shakes and flashes, an effects quality setting, and separate volume controls for music and sound effects. The menus work with the keyboard as well as the mouse.
